Housing, settling in, daily life

Enerlab Academy partners with student-housing providers so you can secure your accommodation before your visa application — a key requirement of the consular file.

Subsidised public student housing through MesServices Étudiant. From €280/month (limited availability, means-tested).

Blocked bank account

BNP Paribas, Société Générale and La Banque Postale offer remote opening of a French blocked account for visa purposes (minimum €7,380 for 2026-2027).

Important for your visa: proof of housing (signed residence contract or host certificate) is a key document in the consular file. Secure your accommodation before submitting your visa application.

FAQ — Visa & living in France

How much money do I need to prove for the student visa?

The French consulate requires proof of sufficient financial resources. For 2026, the minimum amount is €7,380 in a blocked bank account (€615/month × 12). The account is unblocked monthly once you arrive in France. Always check the up-to-date amount on your local Campus France website.

How do I renew my residence permit each year?

Renewal takes place at the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture (Nanterre) before your permit expires. Enerlab Academy issues your enrolment certificate, transcript, and attendance certificate. Our International Office walks you through the procedure.

Can I work while studying?

Yes. The VLS-TS student visa allows you to work up to 964 hours per year (about 60% of a full-time job, or roughly 20 hours per week). For work-study programmes, your apprenticeship contract counts within this quota.

Can I travel back to my home country during holidays?

Yes. The VLS-TS is a multiple-entry visa: you can leave and re-enter France while your residence permit remains valid. Always carry: your valid residence permit, your Enerlab Academy enrolment certificate, and your valid passport.

What is Campus France and why is it mandatory?

Campus France is the French national agency that promotes French higher education abroad. The “Études en France” procedure on the Pastel platform is mandatory for nationals of 67 countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Vietnam, China, India…) before applying for a student visa. It includes an in-person Campus France interview in your country.

What if my visa is refused?

Ask the consulate for the precise reason. The most common refusals: insufficient resources, unproven housing, incomplete file, weak project consistency. Enerlab Academy can provide additional documents (UAI attestation, detailed syllabus, accreditations). Contact admissions [at] enerlabs [dot] fr with your consular file number.

Are scholarships available for international students?

Enerlab Academy does not currently award direct scholarships for 2026-2027. You may apply for: French Government Scholarships (BGF), AUF scholarships, Eiffel Excellence scholarships (Master's only), or bilateral scholarships from your home country. See the Tuition fees page for budget details.
